Greenwood Christian Lady Hawks Varsity Grabs Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over King Academy
Greenwood Christian Lady Hawks Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over King Academy on Thursday. The game was tied at two with Greenwood Christian Lady Hawks Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Rachel Hamilton doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Greenwood Christian Lady Hawks Varsity built a four-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off King Academy’s charge. King Academy scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Abby Smith, a groundout by Madison Metts, and a single by Lacey Dubose.
Greenwood Christian Lady Hawks Varsity got things started in the first inning. Gracie Brisher grounded out, scoring one run.
King Academy evened things up at two in the top of the fourth inning. King Academy scored one run when Caroline Dubose singled.
Jessica Rearden pitched Greenwood Christian Lady Hawks Varsity to victory. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out 15.
Kerrie Bradley took the loss for King Academy. She surrendered six runs on six hits over six innings, striking out one.
Emma Knight led Greenwood Christian Lady Hawks Varsity with two hits in four at bats.
Dubose went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead King Academy in hits. King Academy stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Dubose led the way with three.
